Thankfully I was exposed to a huge variety
of music at an early age by music loving parents and my older sister.
I consider seeing the Beatles on "The Ed Sullivan Show"
inspired me to become a musician. I soon fell in love with the sound
of the bass and began taking lessons at age 10, thereafter joining
bands in junior high school. Seriously bitten by the sounds of Jazz
at age 14, I began serious study which then propelled me to the highest
honors and Jazz awards available
to high school music students, such as the NAJE, and Louis Armstrong
Awards. Studied classical bass with Henry Loew, then principle bassist
with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. First recording session at
age 16. Enrolled in the University of Miami at Florida's Jazz program
in 1977 and began playing regularly around the Miami area. With teachers'
recommendations I then began performing in many senior and masters
recitals while also playing on hundreds of recording sessions. |

Graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree
in Studio Music and Jazz in 1982 and moved to Los Angeles in 1982.
While there I gained much experience (studio work with Stevie Wonder)
and enjoyed success as a session bassist, arranger, engineer, programmer,
producer, studio designer and technician. Moved back to St Louis in
1988 in order to focus on the bass guitar so as not be so diluted
with too many activities professionally (HA!). |
| Been in many excellent
bands since coming back to St. Louis such as"Eternal Daze"
(with Groovethang's Mark Crowell), "Felonious Funk", Meramec
College's Monday Night Big Jazz Band, as well as freelancing with
many of St. Louis' finest musicians. Met and worked with Groovethang's
Justin Stewart in the creation of "Amandla Recording Studio"
in 1992. Currently have a satisfying position as a producer, arranger,
session bassist and engineer at Sidetrack Recording Studio. |
